Scholarship Fund of Alexandria: Titans 4 Scholars

I’m James Heiden, a student at Alexandria City High School who cares deeply about public service, civic life, and economic opportunity. My experiences growing up in Alexandria convinced me that access to higher education is more than a personal achievement, it’s an investment in our community’s future.

That’s why I joined Titans 4 Scholars, a student-led initiative at ACHS raising $12,000 to create a four-year, $3,000-per-year scholarship for a graduating Titan. Partnering with the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, we’re working to remove financial barriers so qualified and talented Titans can pursue college. This will bring diverse perspectives into public life, and build the skills needed for their future careers.

Since 1986, thanks to the generosity of the Alexandria community, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria has awarded more than $20 million in new and renewed scholarships to over 5700 Alexandria students with financial need in pursuit of their college and career goals; hard working and high achieving students who might not otherwise have the chance to attend college. The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria provides career, and financial aid advising to ALL Alexandria City High School students and families. At today's Alexandria City High School (formerly TC Williams), two out of three students live at or below the federal poverty level.
