Honoring the life and legacy of John D. Waller

Honoring the life and legacy of John D. Waller through the scholarship support that he and Claudia began in 1987 when honoring their son Michael Waller.
In loving memory of John Delano Waller, who passed away October 26, 2024, at the age of 86.
John & Claudia’s sons went through the City of Alexandria public school system and attended the then TC Williams High School. Our parents set a standard by taking on leadership roles in civic organizations which included parent-teacher associations, community pool committees (Parklawn in Alexandria and in Naples), numerous sports clubs and boosters, scholarship funds and church organizations.
John’s unlocked door policy welcomed anyone in need of encouragement, assistance or a sympathetic ear and resulted in the love and laughter that emanated from both Kelley Court and Bay Forest. John’s legacy is evident not only in the accomplishments of his sons and ten grandchildren, of which he was justifiably proud, but also in his lifelong effort to bring us together while challenging us to carry forward his examples of peace, love, forgiveness, faith, hope, light and joy.
Thank you for honoring John with a scholarship award in his name. The Michael, Claudia and John D. Waller Scholarship was established to ensure deserving students from Alexandria City High School are able to pursue their dreams of a post-secondary education.
Michael Waller, TCW `86, an athlete and community volunteer, was a student at Pfeiffer College. Claudia Cronin Waller was a community leader serving on Alexandria Public School, NOVA College and Scholarship Fund Boards, the latter two as Chairperson, and on SFA Executive Advisory Board when she died in 2021. She was an early, long-term and enthusiastic supporter of SFA, mother of four and grandmother to three Titans.
With love and appreciation,
Mark & Paula, John & Kelly, and Brian & Diana Waller
About The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria
Since 1986, thanks to the generosity of the Alexandria community, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria has awarded more than $20 million in new and renewed scholarships to over 5700 Alexandria students with financial need in pursuit of their college and career goals; hard working and high achieving students who might not otherwise have the chance to attend college.
The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria provides career, and financial aid advising to ALL Alexandria City High School students and families. At today's Alexandria City High School (formerly TC Williams), two out of three students live at or below the federal poverty level. Just one scholarship can mean generations of financial stability and success for an Alexandria student and their family. Want to help make a difference? When we all give what we can, we can create a scholarship and help change a student's life. The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria and its many supporters are committed to help ensure that the next generation of Alexandria students with financial need will have the opportunity to attend and complete college. Scholarships really do change lives…forever.
