Please Give to Create The "Dr. Patricia Zissios Scholarship" for a T.C. Titan with Financial Need.

Let's create a scholarship in honor of the amazing Principal, Dr. Zissios, to thank her for her dedication to our kids...and to help send a T.C. Titan in need to college. Dr. Zissios IS Lyles Crouch! Please join us for an outdoor celebration on the playground in person on June 7th to honor this amazing educator. You can show your gratitude for her dedication by donating to create the "Dr. Patricia Zissios Scholarship." This scholarship will be awarded to a 2022 Titan graduate with financial need. It is a wonderful and meaningful way to honor such an important leader at LCTA.

If you thought you knew Principal Patricia Zissios, did you know....

* She has been an educator for 47 years (20 years as a teacher, 27 as a principal)
* Averaging 30 students a year as a teacher, she taught 600 children
* Averaging 600 children a year in Fairfax as a principal times 10 years there...that's 6,000 children
* Averaging 375 a year for 17 years as a principal at LCTA...Dr. Zissios has touched the lives of 6,375 Lions during her time at ACPS.

That's 12,975 children whose lives have been touched by Dr. Zissios as an educator. It's time to celebrate her with a scholarship!

This tribute to Dr. Zissios will culminate on June 7th @6:30PM on the Lyles-Crouch playground! It's a great way for students and families past and present to re-connect with Dr. Zissios and show her how much she has meant to you. And it's also a great way for you to connect with LCTA families and friends you've been missing! Can't attend? You can still donate! And you do not need to donate to attend. All are welcome! Please share this with other LCTA parents, alumni and neighbors!

Safe distancing and masks are welcome on the playground for those who are not vaccinated or prefer these measures. Bring along a picnic blanket or sports chair and some refreshments if you'd like! We'll cheer on Dr. Zissios, reminisce about good times and present her with a ceremonial check in the amount raised to support her scholarship. We set a goal of $3,000, please help us get there! See you there, Lions!

Questions about this event? Contact: jasmine.milone@acps.k12.va.us The scholarship and celebration are being coordinated by The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.
The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that works to ensure that ALL Alexandria students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have the opportunity to attend college. At today's T.C. Williams High School, two out of three students live at or below the federal poverty level. The COVID pandemic and its far-reaching socioeconomic impacts are hitting hardest our local families in need -- the very same families we serve. Just one scholarship can mean generations of financial stability and success for an Alexandria student and their family. Want to help make a difference? When we all give what we can, we can create a scholarship and help change a student's life.

The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria was established in 1986 to help ensure that ALL bright, hard-working students can afford college. We provide college advising, financial aid advising, college readiness support, and of course, college scholarships. Thanks to the generosity of the Alexandria community, the Scholarship Fund awards approximately $1 million in scholarships to Titan graduates each year. Most of our scholarships range from $12,000 to $20,000 over four years and can often mean the difference between a student being able to afford college, or simply staying home.
