Established in 1986, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria works to ensure that ALL Alexandria students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have access to expert postsecondary and financial aid advising AND have the opportunity to pursue their college and career goals with help from life-changing scholarships.
Two out of three students in the Alexandria City Public Schools system live at or below the federal poverty level. Just one scholarship can mean generations of financial stability and success for an Alexandria student and their family. The work that the SFA is doing in the Alexandria City High School community is truly tangible, truly meaningful, and truly making a difference.

This year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the SFA awarded a total of $627,000 to 207 members of the Class of 2023. AND the SFA is not just getting students TO college, we are getting them THROUGH college! We awarded an additional $809,000 in renewal scholarships to our alumni recipients. That’s a $1.4 million in scholarships to students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue their college and career goals and dreams!

Most of our scholarships range from $12,000 to $20,000 over four years and can often mean the difference between a student being able to afford college, or simply staying home.
